I had the same thing and then got into a habit of stretching and it stopped. i normally stretch now more before than after

Re: 2017 Fitness Thread
To be honest - I probably don't. I do a "bit" but could probably be a bit stricter.

Re: 2017 Fitness Thread
LJC, do you stretch properly before and after cardio? If not try that and it should do the trick.

I am doing my first run of the year later today, not looking forward to it at all!

Re: 2017 Fitness Thread
light weights 5 to10kg loads of reps do about 8 different exercises including sit ups or crunches 3 sets per exercise . I basically do each set to failure rep wise

Re: 2017 Fitness Thread
Been training 5 days a week (weekends off) for the last 2 years. Combination of cross fit, weights and a combat sport (currently BJJ).

Only in the last 12 months have I properly got into shape due to a new trainer telling me that diet is very important.

He said the rule of thumb was 20% exercise and 80% diet. Gave me a food/suppliments (glutamine, BCAA's, casein etc.) plan and it seems to be working. Have my cheat days on the weekends with regards food but don't go crazy.

All I was going to ask Bruno is that I have really bad posture and proper ache and pains in my knees when I do cardio and was wondering if yoga would help with either?

That's the trouble with you Chigwell lot, you couldn't just have a flare up, yours had to be "hip"

Chigwell 4:31 Fri Jan 6
Re: 2017 Fitness Thread
Waiting for a hip replacement this year, so keeping fit is confined to walking the dog. Tried cycling as recommended by the doctor, but after 3 days I was rewarded with a hip flare up which lasted for a week.

Re: 2017 Fitness Thread
That's a bit silly.

Oh well was going to ask you about it.

Due to injury I've only lifted for 8 of the previous 12 months and have experienced no tangible losses, either in strength or asthetically

Did a leg day on Monday for the first time in weeks (5-3-1 back squats, 4x6 front squats, 3x10 weighted hyperextensions, 10 minute fast uphill walk on treadmill), still can't walk properly today.

..."So much bullshit flying around on this, but trial and error has shown me that once you've built muscle mass it's actually a piece of piss to maintain it, provided your diet is alright"

Spot on, that. Getting there is hard work but staying there is relatively simple. Even when your diet isn't ideal (ie a few beers) as long as it's two nights on the pop and five night off it, rather than the other way around.
